The Networker Badge.
To earn the "Networker" badge the applicant must write, ask for and receive advice from ten music industry professionals they do not know personally, whose work they admire.
The purpose of this badge is to show our students they have the support and encouragement of the artists around them, even high profile ones, if they only ask.
Write Your Letters
- Choose twenty music industry professionals. While you only need ten replies you may not get through to everyone.
- Find out the best way to contact those professionals/artists.
- Write a personalised and considerate letter/email to each, spend some time looking at what they have already said online/in interviews and ask something interesting and out-of-the-box. Show them that you have looked into them already.
Wait For Replies
- Wait to hear back.
- Consider re-sending your message via another channel if you haven't heard from them.
- If you are having no luck, move on to another artist.
- Write back to any replies you get with thanks and any further questions you get.
Action Advice
- Collect your replies and write a paragraph about each letter and what you will take from their advice and apply to you own practice.
- Send the replies and how you are going to apply what you have learned to our email to review.
